After Florida hip-hop artist XXXTentacion was brutally murdered, his fans developed various theories about what might have happened, leading to heated arguments on social media and even street fights on the grounds of Los Angeles.
The madness of the controversial theories escalated so quickly that soon an elderly couple started receiving death threats because some supporters believed the killer of their idol was apparently living at their address in Cape Coral.
It all began with a post on social media that suggested the elderly couple were housing the murderer of the deceased rapper.
One of the intruders of the elderly couple even posed to be a pizza delivery guy so he could be invited into the home, where he believed the shooter was.
The impostor visited the address on Monday, June 18, just hours after the “Jocelyn Flores” rapper was murdered and then showed up twice again on the following day. Authorities were able to determine that the intruder was 20-year-old Jesse Gonzalez.
Laurie Bernard, one of the owners of the harassed home, later learned of the social media gossip via a phone call.
Some of Bernard’s neighbors saw Gonzalez near the gates of the building and asked what he was doing there.
His troubling answer was that he was looking for the murderer of his friend, which provoked people to call the police. As a result, Gonzalez was arrested for his suspicious behavior.
A statement released by Cape Coral officials read: “There has been misleading information that the suspect lived at a specific address within the city limits of Cape Coral. The residence was checked by officers who made contact with the homeowners and determined that the suspect does not and has not lived there.”
Later, Bernard commented on Gonzalez and all the other people who believed in the wild conspiracy theories, stating that they should be ashamed for just believing what is posted online. The disturbed citizen also said she wanted to be left alone for the time being.
