CAL FIRE is reporting that the Wragg Fire has burned more than 4,000 acres and destroyed at least one home. The Wragg Fire, which is burning near Lake Berryessa, has forced thousands of residents from Napa County and Solano County to evacuate.
The Wragg Fire has prompted the evacuation of several counties, burned thousands of acres, destroyed at least one home, but thankfully there has been no reports of deaths.
In the past few days, there has been over 20 wildfires, (all are still active), in California including the Hog Fire, the Lake Fire and Washington Fire. Moreover, the Wragg Fire has come to join the long list.
In several tweets posted by CAL FIRE, it has been revealed that over 525 firefighters have been dispatched to battle the Wragg Fire blazing off Highway 128 near Greaves Rd, Lake Berryessa.
A mandatory evacuation order was issued for residents in Napa County and Solano County. It is believed that the fire started on July 22. The wildfire has destroyed 6,000 acres. Moreover, despite the fact that several agencies – Napa County Fire, Winters FPD, Vacaville FPD, Vacaville City Fire, and Napa County Sheriff – are fighting it, thus far only 5% is contained.
According to CAL FIRE, an outbuilding and a tent trailer have been destroyed and one structure has been damaged and many more are threatened. CAL FIRE spokesperson Karen Stasko shared:
“There are still about 200 structures that are threatened in the Quail Ridge community and Golden Bear. I didn’t think there were any homes in that area because when you drive by it you don’t see that much.”
The Wragg Fire is currently moving east with the aid of winds, which are blowing between 13 to 25 miles per hour. CAL FIRE said in a statement:
Firefighters will continue to aggressively work in treacherous terrain, providing structure defense and improving containment lines. The fire has remained active through the night. The area is brush grass covered, rugged and steep, with difficult access. Winds are erratic. Additional resources have been ordered. 200 structures threatened along Pleasants Valley Rd and Golden Bear Community. Red Cross has established an evacuation center at 201 Railroad Ave. in Winters. A large animal evacuation center is opened at 29775 County Road 31, Winters.
According to the police, Hwy 128 from Wragg Canyon to Pleasants Valley Rd. North of Mix Canyon was closed due to a car accident that may or not have been caused by the fire.
