A billion views was reached for Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s hit single entitled “See You Again,” which was featured on the Furious 7 soundtrack. The track and video were also a tribute to actor Paul Walker.
Wiz Khalifa is celebrating one billion views on YouTube with one video. Mr. Khalifa and Charlie Puth collaborated on the hit track “See You Again” for the Furious 7 soundtrack, which is also the fastest video to hit the one billion mark.
Wiz Khalifa also made history by being the first rapper to hit the billion mark on the popular video sharing site. The song, which was produced by Puth and written by DJ Frank E, Wiz Khalifa, and Andrew Cedar also served as a tribute to actor Paul Walker, who died on Thanksgiving in 2013.
Walker passed away while he was filming Furious 7, and his brothers, Caleb and Cody Walker, offered to step in so the movie could be completed. Talking to MTV, Khalifa explained how honored he was to be asked to be part of the hip hop ballad:
“To have the responsibility to do the Paul Walker record was really dope. I basically thought about what the movie stands for as far as family and the brotherhood, and of course, using the metaphor of the last ride and the last race because of that last scene.”
Puth, who was commissioned to pen the song, confessed that the writing process went very fast because the lyrics were inspired by one of his friends, who died in a car accident. The artists said:
“It just seemed to occur from out of nowhere. And basically 10 minutes later Justin and I wrote it, we sent it off, and I thought we’d never hear about it again”
Khalifa joined PSY, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry in the prestigious 1 billion views club.
See You Again is not only the first rap video to hit a billion views but is also the fastest video to hit a billion on YouTube. Wow. Thank u
