A Will Smith Letterman appearance has gone viral and has brought back a lot of good memories to music fans. Smith performed his 1998 party anthem “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It.” The popular song was featured on the Big Willie Style album.
Wednesday, Will Smith appeared on CBS’ The Late Show With David Letterman, his entrance was one for the books. The talented rapper and actor performed “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It.” The performance has giving more credence to the rumors that have Smith making a comeback to the music industry in the near future.
The father of 3, who is currently promoting his new romantic comedy-drama, Focus, recently said at a promotional stop that he has spent some time in the studio with Kanye West. Smith released his last album Lost and Found in 2005, it was certified gold in the US. According to The Guardian:
“I went into the studio with Kanye. I’m thinking about it. I’m exploring.”
He added:
“I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet but I’m exploring. I’m in a creative ceiling. My son tells me I have to write out the things I don’t like. I can’t write and stop – I have to keep going and going and write them out. I’ve never worked like that before, but I think I might give that a shot.”
The performance was well received. Smith also used his appearance on the show to pay homage to the host David Letterman, who will be retiring in May after 21 years on the network.
The 46-year-old actor also shared a story about his daughter, Willow Smith, 14, who “takes all of the attention” in the family home. Jada Pinkett Smith‘s husband shared:
“So she has these cats and she loves these cats and we live out in the boonies so I accidentally left one of the door’s open and she can’t find the cat and it’s a bad look for cats in my neighborhood because there’s coyotes and stuff out there, they’re not gonna make it. So she’s very upset and she looked at me and tears welled up in her eyes and she said, ‘I cannot believe you would be that irresponsible.’ There’s nothing that destroys the heart of a middle-aged man like the disdainful sneer of a 14-year-old girl.”
Focus that will be premiering on February 27 also features The Wolf of Wall Street actress Margot Robbie. What are your thoughts on Will Smith’s Letterman appearance?
