A text message from a missing teenager named Veronica Bobadilla, had her family worried – until they were able to speak to her and she explained that she plans to come back home.
On Monday, a 16-year-old girl named Veronica Bobadilla, vanished from her home in Laurens County, South Carolina. Concerned family members immediately called the police asking for help.
According to several relatives, Veronica Bobadilla had threatened to run away few days prior. It is believed that she fled to Texas to be with Edwin Diaz, a man she met on Facebook.
This is not the first time Veronica Bobadilla ran away from home, according to the police. The day the teen went missing, her family received a disturbing message from her phone that read: “I’ve killed Veronica. Stop texting her.”
A friend of Bobadilla tried contacting her and got the following answer: “I killed Veronica y’all want find her.” Members of the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office put out a picture and a brief description of Miss Bobadilla. It read:
“She is 5-foot-4, 180 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a hoodie. Anyone with information of her whereabouts are asked to call the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office at 864-984-4967.”
On Tuesday afternoon, the Bobadilla family was relieved after receiving a phone call from the girl where she explained that she was fine and was on her way back. She did not say where she was nor when she would return to South Carolina.
Less than 24 hours later, police tracked down the teen’s phone in Lilburn, Georgia. Authorities have revealed that Veronica Bobadilla was traveling through Georgia and Louisiana on her way to Texas.
Laurens County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that Veronica Bobadilla is in the custody of Atlanta police and they have plans to go pick her up and bring her to her family.
