Donald Trump’s staffers have not been asked to leave by the Republican National Committee, but this does not mean some other prominent officials are not exiting the campaign.
This week, several media outlets reported that many staffers of the Republican National Committee had threatened to leave because they do not support the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party in the 2016 presidential election.
It was claimed that a group of staffers was told to take the exit door if they do not get on board. Many respected reporters ran with the story, which prompted RNC communications director Sean Spicer to take to Twitter to deny it. Spicer tweeted a link to the New York Times story, and captioned it:
“100% not true.”
That same night, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus also took to social media to show his support for Trump in a tweet that read:
“.@realDonaldTrump will be presumptive @GOP nominee, we all need to unite and focus on defeating @HillaryClinton #NeverClinton.”
While Spicer was blasting one story, another was leaking. It has been confirmed that Kevin Kellems and Erica Freeman, who had been hired just weeks ago, have been fired or have resigned from Trump’s campaign. The reason?
Kellems and Freeman could not handle the chaos on the Trump train. A close source to Kellems shared he “was said to have been frustrated with the dysfunction of the campaign’s senior leadership,” while a person who worked with Freeman added she “had similarly found herself caught up in the chaos of the Trump operation.” The New York Times, reported:
“At one point, the turmoil spilled into public view when Mr. Trump publicly contradicted her on a conference call with surrogates. In the call, reported by Bloomberg News, Mr. Trump referred to talking points Ms. Freeman had sent around — urging supporters to stop talking about a federal lawsuit against Trump University — and ordered, ‘Take that order and throw it the hell out.'”
Another staffer allegedly got the boot, but he is claiming that he was not fired. Vincent Harris, a recently-hired digital consultant, tweeted:
“We were not fired. We completed our various creative projects … I wish all involved good things! have reflected & learned from this commotion.”
Will this be a landslide election?
