A woman trapped in a chimney in California, has been arrested. Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa, got stuck in the 8-foot chimney while trying to burglarize the home of her ex-lover.
Trapped in the chimney, should be the sequel to R. Kelly‘s Trapped In The Closet series. On Sunday morning, several residents in a Thousand Oaks neighborhood heard a woman screaming for help.
When police and firefighters arrived to the scene, they eventually found a woman trapped in the chimney of a two-story home pleading for them to rescue her. The woman was later identified as Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa.
It took California firefighters more than two hours to free the woman using drills and a stokes basket. Members of the Ventura County Fire Department, had to demolish the chimney, brick by brick.
They poured several bottles of dish soap to lubricate the chimney and pulled her out. Ventura County Fire Department spokesperson, Captain Mike Lindbery, took to Twitter where he posted several pictures of the 30-year-old woman being extracted from the chimney.
Under one picture where Nunez-Figueroa can be seen emerging from the chimney covered with soot, Lindbery wrote:
“Another shot from entrapment call. Chimney flue was lubricated with dish soap prior to hoisting patient
#entrapment patient was lifted out of chimney and hoisted from roof using ladder truck and stokes basket.”
Nunez-Figueroa was taken to Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center for physical and mental evaluations. She was later arrested for illegally entering a residence and providing false information to a peace officer.
It is not Christmas, and Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa is certainly not Santa Claus, so why was she in a chimney? According to the unnamed home owner, he dated Nunez-Figueroa briefly after they met online.
He ended the romance because they were not compatible, but Nunez-Figueroa would not take no for an answer and she started stalking him. This is the second time she has tried to force her way into the home.
The man revealed that he is a bit concerned by his ex’s actions and is not sure how to get her to stay away from his home. Nunez-Figueroa’s family claimed that she is not well and has offered to replace the chimney.
