As reported by the Los Angeles Coroner’s office, Tina Turner’s firstborn son, Craig Raymond Turner, has committed suicide around noon on Tuesday.
According to information issued by authorities, the 59-year-old took his life by shooting himself with a firearm.
The death was confirmed at the deceased’s Studio City in California estate at 12:38 p.m. local time.
Craig is the first biological child of the iconic singer from Raymond Hill, who made a living as a saxophone player in the group “Kings of Rhythm.”
When the famous pop diva gave birth for the first time, she was only 18 years old and still went under the name Anna Mae Bullock.
However, after Tina and Hill broke up, she married Ike Turner, who adopted her son from the previous relationship.
Unfortunately, the marriage was turbulent and physically abusive, which at one point resulted in Tina trying to commit suicide. The couple finally divorced in 1978.
Through the years, the singer has talked about the domestic violence she has endured when married to Ike Turner.
On one occasion, Tina even revealed to Oprah Winfrey that her eldest son was the only one of her children to worry about her during that unhappy period of her life.
Craig’s occupation was a real estate agent for Rodeo Realty, Beverly Hills.
Besides her late child, the 78-year-old music legend has another son, whom she shares with her first husband.
In addition, Tina took Ike’s sons, Ike Jr. and Michael, under her wing and raised them as her own.
At the time of her son’s death, the legendary singer was in Paris, where the Haute Couture Fashion Week was taking place, and she is yet to make any comments on what has happened.
The “What’s Love Got to Do with It” singer is reportedly going to address her son’s death in a new documentary about her life and epic career.
