Tina Fey and Dave Letterman said goodbye in the most unusual way. Tina Fey appeared on her last Late Show with David Letterman episode, she got undressed and showed her Spanx, which had a very special message for Letterman.
Tina Fey and Dave Letterman have a particular connection, which is why she decided to give him the dress on her back, literally.
On Wednesday night, Tina Fey made her very last appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, she gave a funny interview, removed her dress and gave it to the host.
Miss Fey, who looked stunning in the body hugging number, was complimented by Letterman. And she replied by saying it takes a lot of Spanx to look that fabulous. She shared:
“First of all it’s very hard work.I don’t know if you’re aware of the contraptions under here. It’s almost medical, and I’m terrible in heels.”
Fey went on to reveal that she only dresses for Letterman and puts on anything she finds when she goes on Jimmy Fallon‘s show. The funny lady said:
“What am I going to do put a dress on for Jimmy (Fallon)? That’s creepy. He’s like my brother.”
Fey shared more madness:
“I’m gonna wear like special underwear for James Corden? That’s not gonna happen. The next time you’ll see me I’ll be playing charades in a slanket.”
After the chit-chat, Fey disrobed herself and gave her dress to Letterman. Fey’s Spanx had the message “Bye Dave” in front and “Last Dress” on the back. Amused by the farewell gift, Letterman gave Fey a hug and said:
“God bless you, my dear.Thank you so much.”
Letterman, whose final show will air on May 20, revealed that he was hoping that a woman like Fey or a black man would replace him, but the network had other plans. He also revealed that he was not able to compete with Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel on social media, which is why he decided to retire. He stated:
“If you look around at the other people doing it and look at me, it’s almost like a pair of shoes you haven’t worn in a hundred years. Gee, I think we can probably get rid of these.’ I still enjoy what I’m doing, but I think what I’m doing is not what you want at 11:30 anymore.”
He added:
“I hear about things going viral and I think, ‘How do you do that?. I think I’m the blockage in the plumbing.”
