Love & Hip Hop star Teairra Mari had a bench warrant issued for her arrest, she claims it was all a misunderstanding. Mari, who was set to appear in a California court in an assault case where she is accused of hitting an Uber driver, failed to do so because she wrote down the wrong date.
Love & Hip Hop star Teairra Mari had a bench warrant issued for her arrest after she skipped a court date, but she has a reasonable explanation. On Monday, a hearing, which was set to take place in a Los Angeles courtroom, was postponed.
The judge was scheduled to hear Mari in her outrageous assault case. Here is what occurred last summer. According to the Uber driver, whose identity has not been revealed, he picked up the singer and all was going well until she asked him to use his phone charger.
The driver said no, and all hell broke loose from there, according to the unnamed man, Jay Z‘s former protégée began to punch and hit him and eventually stole the charger and fled the car. It was reported:
“The drive started ok, but went to hell when Teairra asked the driver if she could use his charger for her iPhone. He said no, and she got pissed. The driver claims she began punching him and grabbed the charger. He pulled over, she refused get out, and the cops were called.”
The reality star denied the claims. Her representative stated at the time:
“Teairra says she never tried stealing his charger, says she only ‘tapped him’ and he was beyond rude and told her to get out of the car like she was a ‘f***ing prostitute.’”
The authorities discovered the driver’s phone charger in Mari’s purse, and she was therefore arrested and charged with battery and theft. On Monday, when the diva declined to show up in court, the judge rapidly issued a bench warrant for her arrest. The Lottery Ticket actress put out a brief statement saying that she did not make it to court due to confusion – she apparently wrote down the wrong time. Mari’s court date has been rescheduled for Tuesday morning.
