Swank Tommy Lee Jones Softy: Hilary Swank Says Actor Is A ‘Softy’

Hilary Swank has revealed that Tommy Lee Jones is a softy. In a new interview, while promoting The Homesman, Swank gushed over her co-star, Jones, by revealing that he is a visionary, artisan and softy.

Hilary Swank claimed that Tommy Lee Jones is a softy. Last week, Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank sat down with AP, to talk about her new movie, The Homesman, based on The Homesman by Glendon Swarthout.

The period drama film was written, produced and directed by Tommy Lee Jones. The Homesman focuses on the harsh and difficult life of early settlers of the American Midwest in the 1850s.

It also starred Meryl Streep, Hailee Steinfeld, John Lithgow, and James Spader. Swank explained that it was a great honor working with Jones who is known for playing tough characters.

Hilary Swank explained that Tommy Lee Jones is a “softy” and added:

“It’s so easy to stereotype people.”

Swank went on to shower Jones with compliments by explaining that he is a visionary. The Boys Don’t Cry actress said:

“He shows what he wants to show to the press or to the world and yet he … comes alive on set in a totally different way. He’s a visionary, he’s an artisan, I just was a sponge in his presence.”

The reporter was surprised when Tommy Lee Jones agreed that he might be a “softy” at heart. The 68-year-old No Country for Old Men actor stated:

“I don’t know. That’s not a word that I would use to describe anybody, much less myself, but it sounds positive right?.So yeah, all right, I’m a ‘softy’. Yeah, I’ll accept that.”

Swank plays Mary Bee Cuddy, a strong pioneer woman from New York who moves to the Midwest for more opportunities. She added:

“He doesn’t suffer fools. That’s a really good way to say it.I think his time is precious – all of our time is precious – and he just chooses specifically how he wants to spend it.”
