Stone Cold Steve Austin’s return to a WWE ring was nothing, but a rumor. The misunderstanding about Stone Cold’s big comeback for an epic fight during Wrestlemania 31, occurred during a conversation with former announcer Jim Ross. The wrestler used his weekly Steve Austin Show to clear up the matter using some very colorful language, of course.
A Stone Cold Steve Austin return to the ring is pure speculation for now. In early October, professional wrestler, Stone Cold aka Steve Austin did an interview with Jim Ross, where he stated that he was training again.
The media ran with the rumor that Austin was getting back in shape in order to take part in WrestleMania XXXI. The highly anticipated pay-per-view event is set to take place on March 29, 2015 at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, and “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson has already made it clear, he will not be there.
During the chitchat, Steve Austin who retired in 2003 because of a series of knee, neck injuries and has suffered a heart attack, said that he is ready to come back.
But according to Ross, Stone Cold was never talking about fighting, he was simply explaining that he wants to return to Gold’s Gym and train like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Last week, Ross tried to squash the Steve Austin returning story in a statement that explained that there is no way the wrestler will fight again. Ross went on to share:
“Austin said when he made a recent comment about gearing up for a “comeback,” he was referring to a “comeback to Gold’s Gym,” and despite reports that he’s training to return to a WWE ring, he has no desire to take bumps again and no time in his busy schedule to train for one more match.”
Despite Ross’ statement, the rumors persisted, and few websites even claimed that Steve Austin was working out in order to fight Brock Lesnar.
Tired of the whispers, Stone Cold Steve Austin, the man himself, used Episode 159 of his podcast to tell fans to stop getting “their panties in a wad” because he will not be fighting at WrestleMania 31.
However, Mr Stone Cold Steve Austin did reveal that maybe for the right price, or the right match he would return.
