Snoop Dogg delivered 1,500 turkeys to families living in Inglewood, California ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. For the second year in a row, the City of Champions’ mayor Mr. James Butts along with the legendary rapper brought joy to the thousands, who gathered at an arena by posing with them for pictures and chatting.
Snoop Dogg gave away thousands of turkeys to people in Inglewood and took some time out to pose for pictures with almost all of them. On Thursday, rapper Snoop Dogg and Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts were at the Forum where they greeted more than 1,500 residents, who all received turkeys that they will feast on for Thanksgiving.
Every year, the City of Champions posts flyers letting people know when and where it will have the turkey giveaway ahead of the holiday. The poster for the second annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway in collaboration with the “Hennesey N Buddah” artist had him sitting in front of the perfect Thanksgiving table, and it read:
The Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway at the Forum, 3900 W. Manchester Blvd., will be held on Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. until noon. Snoop Dogg will be there along with Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts and other city officials. Families who want to receive a turkey can call (310) 412-5300 and ask for Melanie McDade Dickens or for the giveaway sign-up to be placed on the list.
The city also gives away baked hams and toys for Christmas. In 2014, the rapper contacted Mr. Butts and told him he wanted to do something special for the people of Inglewood. Moreover, the Long Beach star, who has his production crew called 1500 or Nothin headquartered in Inglewood, gave out 800 turkeys at the time. However, this year, Dogg not only gave large birds to people, but he also took selfies and spoke to almost all of them, and the mayor did the same. Butts told a Los Angeles TV station:
“Snoop Dogg took pictures with over 800 people at the event. We had a tented area for seniors to sit in, and the first thing he did was go over to take pictures with everyone there.”
Xiomara Payan, an Inglewood resident, who was thrilled to meet Snoop Dogg and snap a selfie at the turkey giveaway, stated:
“This is a very big help for not only myself, but for about a thousand people.”
Many will have a great Thanksgiving thanks to Snoop Dogg.
