Sherri Shepherd is giddy about leaving “The View,” a talk show she called home for over seven years. Last moth, ABC decided to fire Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy from “The View” following a little decline in viewership and more competition from programs like CBS’ “The Talk.”
“The View” opted to bring back controversial former co-host and ratings magnet Rosie O’Donnell who will be joining Whoopi Goldberg later this year. Despite being forced out of a job she loves, Sherri Shepherd claims that she is all upbeat and positive about the future.
The comedian was asked about her thoughts on the current drama surrounding “The View” while attending Wendy Williams’ 50th birthday party in New York City on Friday. Shepherd told Entertainment Tonight:
“I’m giddy with excitement because I feel like the sky’s the limit…I love doing talk shows. Maybe they need a chocolate version of Ellen. I don’t know.”
The Think Like a Man actress who is going through a messy divorce at the the moment with estranged husband Lamar Sally is throwing her support behind Meghan McCain, Ross Matthews and Rosie Perez as potential co-hosts.
The names she mentioned are not considered among the favorites to fill up the last two remaining seats on the panel. Sherri Shepherd’s divorce has cost her a lot of credit with fans, some are particularly not happy with her decision to give up on the unborn child she signed on for via surrogacy. To Sherri’s defense the unborn baby is only her husband’s biological child and not hers.
While Sherri Shepherd is giddy and looking ahead, her former partner in crime Jenny McCarthy is focusing on the present and it is smiling at her. McCarthy launched her weekly one-hour show “Dirty, Sexy, Funny” on Wednesday via SiriumXM.
On August 7, Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd will tape their very last episode of “The View.”
Will she be giddy on that day?
