Last week, a woman named Nicole Bonk, who was visiting friends at Mariner’s Cay condominium in Hypoluxo, called the authorities after making a shocking discovery – she saw a five-foot shark in the swimming pool. According to the Sun Sentinel, the shark was barely alive when the woman found it, and she tried to revive it with her husband. Bonk shared:
“We tried to revive him but he mostly likely did not live. He was barely moving after the trauma. We did our best to try to save this creature.”
Officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission only arrived at the Palm Beach County pool the next day, and it was already too late for the blacktip shark. Authorities in Hypoluxo say they are investigating this incident.
It is believed that the shark may have been placed in the pool by pranksters because the woman saw two young men running away from the pool just minutes before she spotted the shark. She explained:
“These two kids, they came back from fishing and threw this half-dead creature into the pool as a prank. They left the shark in the pool to die. I think they’re terrible children because it’s animal cruelty.”
