Scott Baio has endorsed Donald Trump for president. The move is not really surprising since the Charles in Charge star has supported Republican candidates since Ronald Reagan.
Happy Days actor Scott Baio has come out in support of Donald Trump for president. Baio, 55, is the latest Hollywood conservative to back the business mogul turned politician. Trump’s famous endorsers include Kid Rock, Aaron Carter, Jon Voight, Willie Robertson, Ted Nugent, Dennis Rodman, Tila Tequila, Mike Tyson, and Stephen Baldwin.
Baio supported Mitt Romney in 2012 and endorsed Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker in 2015. The Joanie Loves Chachi actor even called Walker the new Reagan at the time. The governor dropped out the presidential race before the first vote was even cast. Before bowing out, Walker had urged other candidates to leave the race and unite behind a real conservative to challenge Trump.
So, why is a Walker supporter backing Trump now? Baio likes the simplicity of the GOP’s front-runner’s message. He said during an interview with Fox News’ Judge Jeanine Pirro:
“It’s very simple, because when he speaks I understand him. He speaks like I speak, he communicates with people very well. I want him, as any one person can do, to go into Washington and blow it up.”
Another reason for the TV star’s endorsement, he wants someone, who can take the fight to likely Democratic nominee for president Hillary Clinton and her liberal supporters. Baio explained:
“They’re going to attack whomever the Republican nominee is and we need somebody to relentlessly, relentlessly attack Hillary. It’s the only way we’re going to win. I’m trying to be a classy guy, but to win elections nowadays, the Democrats and liberals attack viciously.”
Baio, who has left the Republican Party because it “lied and conned and B.S.ed” him, is now a conservative independent.
