Sarah Palin gets a ticket for speeding in her hometown of Wasilla, Alaska and she handles it with great humor. Palin who ran for vice president in 2008 turned a negative news item into a PR win.
Sarah Palin was ticketed for $154 on July 16, the former governor of Alaska was doing 63 mph in a 45 mph zone when she was asked to stop her pickup truck.
TMZ.com which broke the story reports that the proud owner of a Toyota Tundra told them:
“I wasn’t speeding, I was qualifying.”
The Fox News commentator was making a NASCAR joke to explain her ticket.
People on the left rushed to mock the mother-of-five for driving a foreign car and not sticking to her “Buy American” mantra. Since the Toyota Tundra is manufactured in San Antonio, Texas that point is moot.
Other remarks went after the fact for once Palin was not blaming President Obama for something. Despite what her political opponents will say, Sarah Palin ticket handling proves that she still has some of the things that made her very appealing as a candidate on the national stage.
For starter, Palin is very quick on her feet. Her NASCAR’s reference spoke directly to the people she connects most with. She is really close to Middle America.
After getting ticketed, Sarah Palin went back to what she does best, attack Obama and the establishment. For example this week she has been pushing Joe Carr who is running in a very heated primary against Sen. Lamar Alexander from Tennessee.
The TV personality endorsed Carr on Wednesday because Washington needs new blood in the fight against the political establishments.
Joe Carr also got the coveted Laura Ingraham endorsement who thinks that Alexander is out of touch and old.
Lamar Alexander who is not a moderate is almost seen by some on the right as a radical lefty.
Sarah Palin has also been slamming Obama for his handling of the crisis at the US border.
