Sarah Drew is pregnant with her second child with husband Peter Lanfer. The couple welcomed their son Micah Emmanuel in January 2012.
“Grey’s Anatomy” actress Sarah Drew, 33, is pregnant just like the character she plays on the hit TV show Dr. April Kepner. Drew and her spouse Peter Lanfer, a lecturer at UCLA, announced the news on Tuesday via People. The Moms’ Night Out star told the celebrity news website:
“Peter and I are delighted to announce our pregnancy. We can’t wait to introduce Micah to his little brother or sister.”
The new baby is expected for December. Drew shared a cute baby bump picture on Twitter to confirm the news. She captioned the photo with:
Nope. That’s not a fake belly 🙂
Sarah Drew fans took to the social networking website to congratulate her on the growing family. The supporters were really happy for her.
The soon-to-be mother of two came back to the site hours later to say thank you. Drew wrote:
Thank you all so much for all the well wishes! We are all so excited!!
Caterina Scorsone who plays Amelia Shepherd on “Grey’s Anatomy” was one of the first celebrities to congratulate Drew on her pregnancy.
Scorsone tweeted the following after hearing the pregnancy reports:
More Grey’s babies!!! Congrats @SarahDrewGreys and Peter. Can’t wait to meet your newest bundle. 🙂
Chyler Leigh, who left “Grey’s Anatomy” in 2012 after five years, bringing Dr. Lexie Grey to life also sent her well wishes to her former colleague. Leigh said:
@SarahDrewGreys SARAH!! AHHHH! Congratulations to you and Peter and now big brother!!! Yay! #WelcomeToTheJungle
Leigh who has three children with husband Nathan West, is now the star of NBC series “Taxi Brooklyn.”
It will be interesting to follow Drew in the upcoming months as reality and fiction continue to collide. Her fictional self April Kepner found out that she was pregnant in the season 10 finale of “Grey’s Anatomy.” Her TV husband Dr. Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) has very different views on children. It will an entertaining dynamic to follow, since the two actors really have a lot of chemistry.
The drama returns for the premiere of season 11 on September 25th, in the new 8pm time slot.
