There is still hope that fans of Roseanne will be pleased with the launch of a spinoff. According to recent reports, Roseanne Barr is considering not claiming any of the profits of the potential new series.
The unexpected cancellation of Roseanne happened when the producers of ABC fired the creator and main actress Roseanne Barr because of her racist posts on social media. As a result, the rest of the cast and crew members were suddenly left without jobs.
Following the end of the Roseanne reboot series, the producers were quickly inspired to create the concept for a potential spinoff which would bring another family member in the center of attention instead of Barr.
While many were fascinated by the idea, there were a lot of people who doubted that Barr should seek profits from the new show.
Former co-showrunner Whitney Cummings was one of those who raised voices against any potential financial benefits for Barr from the spinoff.
What is known for the controversial comedian following her public disgrace was that she is spending most of her time with her parents in Utah. An insider shared that Barr profoundly regrets what happened and wants to do something to make it up to the people who suffered from the cancellation.
Barr was removed from the show, in which she was the leading star after she posted a couple of inappropriate posts on Twitter. Among Barr’s remarks, probably the most offensive one was her comparison of African-American Democratic adviser Valerie Jarrett to an ape.
The comic has been on an apology tour and has even reached out to George Soros, the Democratic donor she called a Nazi.
Insiders believe that the Roseanne spinoff is likely to happen, but its success is not guaranteed.
For the time being, neither Barr nor representatives from ABC could be found for comments.
