In honor of TBT, Reese Witherspoon has posted a cute picture of herself as a cheerleader at the age of 14. The black and white photo has gone viral.
Everyone on social media is celebrating TBT, including Reese Witherspoon. The Oscar-winning actress took to Instagram where she posted an adorable picture of herself during her cheerleading days as she attended the Harding Academy Generals in Nashville, Tennessee.
In the photo, which was taken in 1990, Reese Witherspoon, who was head cheerleader, stood on the shoulders of two other girls. The Legally Blonde actress captioned the Throwback Thursday photo:
“#TBT to my days as a proud General #cheernation #firstsquad #lilgeneral.”
After graduating from the Harpeth Hall School, Witherspoon, who was already an actress and model, attended Stanford University as an English literature major. After completing one year of studies, she left Stanford for Hollywood. A real bookworm, she said that she considered herself:
“…a big dork who read loads of books. I get crazy in a bookstore. It makes my heart beat hard because I want to buy everything.”
She has recently landed her dream job, she will narrate Harper Lee‘s critically-acclaimed Go Set a Watchman, the prequel of To Kill a Mockingbird, which was released in 1960.
Witherspoon starred in Hot Pursuit earlier this year with Sofía Vergara. The Anne Fletcher-directed comedy performed poorly at the Box Office and was slammed by critics.
The popular actress, a mother of three, has been spending a lot of time with her daughter, Ava, in recent weeks. However, finding the right balance between career and motherhood is not an easy task. In an interview for the September 2015 issue of Southern Living magazine, Witherspoon shared:
“No one’s really doing it perfectly. I think you love your kids with your whole heart, and you do the best you possibly can. But, you know, right now I’m feeling sad missing my little 2-year-old, and my daughter’s about to finish her freshman year of high school, and my son has a golf tournament this weekend that I hope I don’t miss. There are some sacrifices you make, and it hurts your heart sometimes, but my kids tell me they’re proud of what I’ve accomplished, and that just means everything. I grew up with a working mom, and I have so much respect for the things she did as a nurse and a teacher. I would never begrudge her that.”
Reese Witherspoon’s statement contained a certain grace and humility, just like her adorable TBT photo.
