Ray Rice costume is just a bad idea. Several people have posted their Ray Rice/Janay Rice-inspired Halloween costumes on social media and they are disturbing. Janay Rice herself has taken to Twitter to blast the concept.
Ray Rice costume for Halloween is a big no no. Last week, three people took to Twitter to share their Ray Rice/Janay Rice domestic violence themed costumes.
While most folks are inspired by fun and weird events like Lady Gaga‘s meat dress or Miley Cyrus‘ twerking outfit for Halloween costumes, others prefer to use controversial moments.
This year, it seems that the video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancée (now wife) Janay Rice in the face and knocking her unconscious in an elevator is a huge hit for Halloween.
The picture of the first Ray Rice costume surfaced early last week. It featured a young Caucasian man with black face wearing Ray Rice’s Baltimore Ravens number 27 jersey dragging a doll in the likeness of Janay Rice on the floor.
The man can be seen stepping out of a closet, it is easy to guess that he was pretending to be coming out of an elevator, the same way Rice’s wife laid on the floor after the brutal punch.
The second costume comes from a white couple, who decided to use blackface and pose for the camera. The male sported a Ravens jersey, while the woman wore a dress similar to what Janay had on the night of the beating.
The woman finished the look with a black eye. The photo was posted by a young man named Zac Ritter, who said that he loved his parents’ costume choice.
The last picture featured a man with his back turned to the camera as he dragged a blowup doll by the hair. The Ray Rice costumes have caused outrage on the internet.
Almost everyone found them inappropriate and racist. Many are wondering, how can people be so insensitive to domestic violence?
Janay Rice took to Twitter to comment on the costumes, she wrote:
“it’s sad, that my suffering amuses others.”
What are your thoughts on those Ray Rice costumes?
It’s sad that this is considered funny.
However, I think that since Mrs. Rice didn’t take the assault seriously (she married the guy anyway), many people believe that the incident is fair game to joke about.
