Rachel Anne Hayes, Florida woman arrested for slapping her granny over a Facebook friend request, is now behind bars.
On Wednesday night, a fight erupted in a home in Pinellas County in the State of Florida between Rachel Anne Hayes and her grandmother, who is 72 years of age.
The 27-year-old woman told her grandmother to accept her friend request on Facebook. The 72-year-old woman from Seminole, told Hayes that she did not want to be associated with her on the social networking site because her username is too vulgar.
The elderly woman told her granddaughter that she was willing to accept her request if she changed her Facebook name. Rachel Anne Hayes refused and angrily stormed out of the house.
On Thursday morning, at around 3 AM, Hayes returned to the home where the pair had a heated argument while on the porch. During the exchange, Hayes slapped the elderly woman several times on the side of her face.
The grandmother was able to run and get back inside the home, lock the front door, and call the authorities. When deputies arrived at the Seminole home, Hayes had fled the scene.
She was arrested at 4 a.m. on a felony charge of domestic battery on an elderly person after it was confirmed that she had slapped the victim multiple times. Hayes was booked in the Pinellas County Jail.
This is not the first time that Hayes broke the law. Pinellas jail records have revealed that Hayes was arrested three times in the past.
In June of 2013, she was cuffed for DUI. In June of 2014, she was arrested for violation of probation for DUI, and in September, she was busted for disorderly conduct (she was urinating in public).
Hayes is currently in the Pinellas County Jail without bond.
