No sleep, blame Princess Charlotte, Prince William confessed to a group of female soccer players that he does not sleep much.
On Thursday evening, Prince William briefly left his wife, Duchess Kate, at home to meet with the Lionesses, the official England Women’s World Cup squad at the National Football Centre.
During the gathering in the locker room, the women gifted Prince William with a tiny Charlotte jersey with the number 1 behind for his newborn baby girl Princess Charlotte.
The team, which is hoping to win FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015, quickly gathered around Prince William to congratulate him on the arrival of his second child. They also asked him how his wife was doing and asked if the baby was sleeping at night.
Steph Houghton, the captain of the team, explained in details how the exchange took place. “All the girls were asking how Princess Charlotte is and Prince George and whether they keep him up all night,” Houghton said.
According to the soccer player, the 32-year-old father of two pointed to his baggy eyes and said that Princess Charlotte is the reason for them.
“He was saying he’s obviously really enjoying being a father and Princess Charlotte is actually keeping him up and probably why his eyes are looking a little bit tired,” Houghton told local media.
During the meeting, Prince William, who is the president of the Football Association, was also quizzed on Prince George, who will turn two in July.
The proud father confessed that his little boy loves to play soccer. Houghton added:
“He was saying he never stops moving and is always on the move and keeping them busy.”
Fellow player Jill Scott confirmed the toddler’s passion for the ball. “He said he’d had a few sleepless nights. The baby will be up and George is running around now isn’t he? It reflects that he does a normal life away from his duty as prince,” Scott shared.
After being interrogated by the players, Prince William posed for pictures with them, signed autographs and was given a jersey for Charlotte by Head Coach Mark Sampson. Earlier this week, the Prince attended a charity event at Windsor Castle where he sipped wine and said he was happy to be away from diaper duties for few days.
