Playboy‘s top party schools list for 2015 has been revealed, and Ohio University is the spot where the fiesta is at. Ohio University took the No. 1 party school title from the University of Pennsylvania thanks to its epic annual Halloween party.
The Playboy party schools ranking for 2015 contains some major surprises. The men’s lifestyle and entertainment magazine has announced that this year Ohio University is the top party school in America.
Ohio University, which is considered as one of the nation’s oldest schools located in Athens, Ohio, managed to take the title from the University of Pennsylvania. By the looks of things, the partying has come to a screeching halt at the University of Pennsylvania because it failed to make the top 10 this year.
To compile the list of best party schools in the United States, Playboy used “a variety of factors” that included access to clubs, sporting events, concerts, and “creativity when planning social gatherings,” along with their readers’ opinions.
Hugh Hefner‘s publication praised OU for its out-of-this-world annual Halloween party and one-of-a-kind Electric Daisy Carnival, which features some of the biggest artists. Here is what the sexy mag had to say about the school:
Athens is home to one of the country’s largest Halloween block parties—a drunken fete so epic it attracts such sponsors as the infamous caffeinated alcohol Four Loko. Court Street, which connects the campus to Athens’s dining district, is a barhopper’s dream: The tiny half-mile stretch boasts 18 bars. And thanks to statewide decriminalization of marijuana possession, students frequently toke up at the appropriately named Bong Hill. The debauchery escalates further at #Fest, OU’s take on Electric Daisy Carnival, where students double-fist Solo cups while bouncing to the sounds of Diplo, Wiz Khalifa and Kendrick Lamar.
The runners-up included the University of Iowa and Florida State University. Coming in at number 10 is the University of Michigan and the university’s president, Mark Schlissel, was not thrilled by the news, and called a meeting to discuss the effects of partying. Schlissel said:
“The value of their degrees are gonna go down because the reputation of the University of Michigan won’t be the excitement in the Big House or our teams doing well under our fantastic new coach. It’s not gonna be the kids who receive the Rhodes Scholarships and the Fulbright Scholarships, and the famous professors who do the work that you’re going to get reflected on for, or the National Medal for the Arts that our faculty won this past week. It’s going to be the ‘Shmacked’ videos. So it’s really up to you what the value of your education is going to be, what the reputation of this institution’s going to be.”
