Paula Faris, 42, is leaving The View and Good Morning America at the end of August. The surprising news was announced on Wednesday.
Surprisingly, the former co-anchor of World News Now and America This Morning is not leaving the Alphabet Network. She will continue working with ABC in a different capacity.
According to a memo that was obtained by Page Six, Faris will now focus on reporting and breaking news.
The news correspondent took to Twitter to share her thoughts about the new direction that her career is taking.
She wrote, “Excited/grateful for the opportunity to cover big stories & talk to the people at the center of them. Thank you to the gracious teams at @GMA Sat./Sun. and @TheView Not going far but I’ll miss you. However, I won’t miss that 3 am wake up on weekends! ;).”
According to insiders, the network did not push Faris out. She recently signed a new contract with ABC News. It seems she just wanted a significant change.
Moreover, she is going to launch a podcast about faith in the near future. Faris, a mother of three, who has been married to real estate expert John Krueger for close to 18 years, might be exiting the popular programs for personal reasons.
A few months ago, Faris revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage that changed her perspective on many things.
She told PEOPLE: “What kicked it off is that I had a really tough miscarriage. I feel like it was in that moment that really repositioned my priority compass and our family’s priority compass. I realized that my kids need me in the stands and on the sidelines, my husband and I need that time to reconnect.”
Faris’ departure will leave a bigger hole on The View, a talk show that has regained some relevancy in the Donald Trump era.
