Anna Paquin educates Larry King on how bisexuality works and she gets the respect she deserves for doing it. The “True Blood” star was a guest on “Larry King Now” on July 21, where she tried to define her sexuality.
Anna Paquin is a proud bisexual and she often talks about what it means to her. Larry King who might have missed some of Paquin’s previous remarks, on the matter wanted to understand how the actress lives her bisexuality.
The 32-year-old Canadian took the 80-year-old TV legend to school, on the meaning of bisexuality. She did it all with a huge smile and no kind of aggressiveness.
King was confused about Paquin constantly claiming that she is a bisexual woman, while being married to her “True Blood” co-star Stephen Moyer for over three years. The former CNN host could not reconcile the two ideas, so he brought it to Paquin’s attention.
King asked the mother-of-two:
“Are you a non-practicing bisexual?”
The second youngest Oscar winner in history took her time and answered calmly:
“Well, I mean, I am married to my husband, and we are happy monogamously married.”
Mr King was not satisfied with her answer, so he wanted to know if the actress could still call herself bisexual while, being involved in a heterosexual relationship. Paquin decided then to explain that her sexuality has not evolved, despite being married to a man. She said:
“Well, I don’t think it’s a past-tense thing. Are you still straight if you are with somebody?… If you were to break up with them or if they were to die, it doesn’t prevent your sexuality from existing. It doesn’t really work like that.”
Paquin’s answers were a hit with the progressive crowd, who applauded her for being a strong supporter of the LGBT community. They also think that she is a clear voice against biphobia.
People with more conservative leanings, applauded King for airing his confusion, they find that there is indeed a lot to be confused about, when it comes to sexuality nowadays.
A small portion of those who commented on the interview, are wondering if Paquin’s sexuality is not overshadowing her career. Whenever she goes, it is safe to say that at some point, her bisexuality will be discussed.
Moyer’s wife came out as bisexual in 2010.
