Barack Obama makes good on World Cup bet with Belgium and gets slammed for it. On June 26th, ahead of World Cup round of 16 match between America and Belgium, Belgian Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo took to Twitter where he made a friendly wager against Barack Obama:
The loser of the game buys the winner some good beer.
Hey @BarackObama, I am betting some great Belgian beers that our @BelRedDevils will make it to the quarter final!
President Barack Obama never replied and the Belgian squad advanced.
Despite America’s secretary of defense Tim Howard’s amazing performance, the US team lost by a score of 2-1 during extra time.
It is rumored that World Cup model Axelle Despiegelaere’s beauty gave the Red Devils all the luck they needed to win.
Almost three months later, POTUS surprised many by gifting the Belgian embassy in Washington D.C. with a case of Sam Adams Boston Lager and a Sam Adams seasonal variety pack.
The present also included a handwritten note from Obama where he concluded with “see you in 2018.”
Officials from the Belgian embassy tweeted:
President Obama making good on lost Soccer World Cup with PM di Rupo:shipment of Sam Adams arrives at embassy.
Many took to Twitter to slam the president Obama, saying that he should be focused on ISIS or Ferguson.
Others said that he should have sent Budweiser instead.
While Budweiser was first introduced in Saint Louis, it is owned by a Belgian-Brazilian company located in Leuven, Belgium.
There isn’t anything thing this President could do that would not be criticized. People, he spends plenty of time focused on ISIL.
Too many haters out there ready to pounce on the President for anything and everything.
Get a life – we all need to smile now and then.
Yeah, he has plenty of time for hoops, drinking with buds, spending tremendous amounts of time on the links, and of course on vacations. That presidential stuff – not so much.
