Noelle Aston Shawver, a 5-year-old girl was accidentally shot to death by a boy of the same age. According to the police report, Noelle and her parents Drew and Stacie Shawver better known as Udy, were visiting a friend’s home when the tragedy took place.
The unnamed child killed Noelle, while they were playing unsupervised in a room as the adults talked in another.
A campaign started on Go Fund Me for Noelle’s funeral has reached almost $22,000.
Noelle Aston Shawver, 5, from Blackfoot was shot to death during a playdate at a home located in Chubbuck, Idaho.
On Wednesday afternoon, Noelle and her parents Drew and Stacie “Udy” Shawver went to visit a family friend.
The adults left Noelle in a room playing with a 5-year-old boy and went to a separate room to socialize.
No one is really certain of how it happened, but at some point the little boy found a gun that belonged to one of the adults of the home.
And as the child was manipulating the deadly weapon it went off. The bullet injured the 5-year-old girl, who was rushed to a nearby hospital.
The child arrived at the Portneuf Medical Center at around 3 PM and died few minutes later. Chubbuck Police Department Lt. Bill Guiberson, spoke to local media saying that due the fact that this is an ongoing investigation, there is little detail he can give.
Guiberson has refused to say how the boy obtained the gun, but did explain that the family will not be charged with any crime because it was a sad accident.
Noelle’s aunt Kaeley Shawver shared Guiberson’s sentiments saying that her family does not blame the boy or his parents for the tragedy.
Kaeley went on to add that Noelle, was a smart and happy child who was eager to start kindergarten next month.
Drew and Stacie who are parents to two other young children, have a relative who started a campaign on Go Fund Me on their behalves, in order to help them pay for the funeral and counseling.
Thus far they have raised nearly $22,000.
