Nicki Minaj is delaying the release of her new single “Anaconda” to August 4 instead of July 28. The change in release date comes after the rapper put out a controversial NSFW cover artwork that went viral.
Nicki Minaj pushes back the release date of her new single “Anaconda,” after the cover art for the song suffered some backlash. Some people were quick to link the delay to the drama caused by the ultra sexy single cover.
Our sources, tell us that this assessment could not be further from the truth. In fact, Minaj was quite pleased to see her cover being dissected on TV shows like “The Talk” and turned into popular internet memes.
Nicki Minaj used a sexy new photo, where she is seen wearing a pink G-string and sports bra, while standing and revealing quite a bit to announce the delay. The picture was probably done on the same day as the “Anaconda” cover.
According to our insiders, the real reason Minaj changed the release date of the anticipated track is called “Bang Bang.”
“Bang Bang,” is a powerful female anthem produced by Max Martin that leaked online on Monday. The track is a collaboration between Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Minaj.
The “Super Bass” artist did not want the overhyped collabo to overshadow her new single “Anaconda,” so she opted with her team to push it back.
This is a very smart move. “Bang Bang” gets one week in the spotlight, helps keep the Nicki Minaj name in the press. “Anaconda,” then comes in to build on what “Bang Bang” started.
After “Bang Bang” appeared on the web most fans were happy with the result. Some even saw it as an updated version of Moulin Rouge! soundtrack’s gem “Lady Marmalade.”
The 2001’s hit song was produced by Missy Elliott and featured vocals from Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mýa, and Pink. “Lady Marmalade” reached number 1 in the US and many critics believe that “Bang Bang” will take on the same path.
Minaj is set to release her third studio album The Pink Print, later this year.
