Nick Jonas and Kate Hudson had a great connection – that is all the world will ever know about the Jonas/Hudson romance. In an interview with Complex, Jonas opened up about his dating life, his sexuality, his love for “twin sister,” Demi Lovato, and yes, his fling with Hudson.
In a lengthy interview with Complex, Nick Jonas has decided to put it all out there – his sex life, his career, having Jay Z as friend and adviser, and his upcoming tour.
The first topic to come up was Jonas’ sexuality; many people believe that the former Disney star is bisexual. Jonas, who played a semi-closeted gay character named Boone on Scream Queens, did not deny or confirm the rumors. If anything he created more confusion by talking about Nate Kulina – the gay/bisexual character that he plays in Kingdom. The Careful What You Wish For star explained that he kissed a male actor on the Audience show, and it was not an issue. He said:
“It’s funny. I play a gay character on a TV show. Whether it’s me or the character, at the end of the day it’s still my body, it’s still telling the story. It’s the character and his journey, but it’s my body, my lips, my hands. It frustrates him that some people think he’s exploiting the community for his own ends, dropping winking hints about his sexuality either way. There’s always going to be negativity toward anything that is a positive effort toward change. As a heterosexual male, [I am] open and comfortable about loving my fan base, gay or straight, because to me there is no difference, it is my fan base. Your sexual preference does not matter to me and it shouldn’t matter to anybody. I thought [the criticism] was kind of dumb, considering I play this gay character on a gritty show. There’s a gay sex scene. I kissed a man.”
The “Nothing Would Be Better” singer went on to reveal:
“The goal is acceptance on all levels— that should be the focus.I’ve gone to normal clubs, straight clubs, and I’ve gone to gay clubs, to party with my friends and fans. There’s no difference. I have nothing to prove. I’m very comfortable in my own skin and I’m thankful to have as many close gay friends as I have, people who have been so supportive in my life, and have always been there for me.”
When quizzed about his dating life, Jonas, 23, stated that he did indeed have a special connection with 36-year-old Kate Hudson, but declined to reveal if that meant sex. Jonas shared:
“Kate’s incredible. We had an unbelievable connection as two humans who just admire things about each other, and see something in each other that’s beautiful.”
Jonas, who was spotted in Florida and California on dates with Hudson, added:
“Out of my best effort to respect her and her privacy, I’m not going to say if we had sex or not. But we did have a beautiful connection. Even now I have so much admiration and respect she’s amazing.”
Jonas claimed to be single and said that splitting from former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo last June was a wise decision. He also confessed to hating Tinder and often contacting hot girls on social media. Jonas, who is currently dating Lily Collins, concluded with:
“Slide right in there sometimes. And then you’ll text the person and finally meet the person. It’s like online dating. Even that freaks me the fuck out. I’m like, should it be a group? Just the person? It’s scary.”
Nick Jonas is looking ahead; he recently wrapped his first leading role in the indie film Goat, a memoir by Brad Land, which will premiere at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. Moreover, he is working on a new album that will come out under Safehouse Records, the label he founded with Demi Lovato and their manager, Phil McIntyre. Jonas and Lovato will be hitting the road together for their worldwide 2016 Future Now Tour – Jay Z, who is Jonas’ business partner, apparently came up with the name.
