Molly Ringwald cartoon gig has been confirmed. It has been announced that Ringwald will be the voice of The Dark Princess in the series Rainbow Brite. The reboot of the 1980’s cartoon will air on Feeln. Emily Osment will voice the main cartoon character – Rainbow Brite.
Molly Ringwald will be a cartoon soon, and so will be Emily Osment. Ringwald who played Claire Standish in the 1985 movie, The Breakfast Club will be voicing The Dark Princess, the villain in Rainbow Brite.
Rainbow Brite, which was created in 1983 by Hallmark Cards, was turned into a cartoon series the following year. The show aired from June 27, 1984 to July 24, 1986 with 13 episodes, and followed a little girl named Wisp, who is brought to a colorless land (that is sometimes changed to a diamond planet named Spectra), where she teamed up with a group of friends to bring the color back and is eventually renamed Rainbow Brite.
The villain in the cartoon series named The Dark Princess will be voiced by Molly Ringwald. The Dark Princess also known as princess Rhonda Aldrich is a selfish and evildoer creature, who tried to take over Spectra by weaving a giant net around its surface and pull the giant planet back to her world.
Rainbow Brite will battle The Dark Princess to make sure that she does not freeze earth – kind of like the movie Frozen.
In a statement issued by the subscription video-on-demand service, it was revealed that other famous Rainbow Brite characters, such as, Starlite and the Color Kids will be appearing in the cartoon reboot. Feeln is available via Roku and Xbox, and will premiere Rainbow Brite on Thursday, November 6 with three weekly episodes.
Feeln, which is thrilled to have Emily Osment and Molly Ringwald in the cartoon series, said:
“We hope audiences will react with an, ‘Oh, my bows!’ — just like us.”
Other cartoons, such as, The Magic School Bus, Care Bears and the Teletubbies are also getting a reboot thanks to Netflix.
