Miss Delaware Loses Crown

Miss Delaware Amanda Longacre loses her crown because of her age. Just fays after being selected as the winner of the Miss Delaware pageant Amanda Longacre was stripped of her title because she will turn 25 years of age in October. After losing her crown and her $11,000 scholarship Miss Longacre has hired an attorney to represent her in the matter.

On June 14th, Amanda Longacre cried tears of joy as she took the title of Miss Delaware 2014 home.

But few days later she was contacted by pageant’s officials who explained that after reviewing her papers they learned that she will be too old to compete in the Miss America Pageant.

The contestants must be between the ages of 17 and 24 throughout 2014 to be eligible for the Miss America pageant taking place in September and the problem that lies is that Amanda Longacre will tun 25 on October 22nd.

Longacre was asked to return the crown and the gifts she received during the competition including the $11,000 scholarship.

According to reports a brief ceremony was held to officially make runner-up Brittany Lewis the new Miss Delaware.

Talking to several media outlets, the beauty queen wept as she spoke about her predicament.

She said that she did nothing wrong and turned it the proper documentation including her ID and birth certificate before the contest that showed her age and she was told that all was well.

The young woman explained:

“I am so, like, really upset.I’m left here wondering why I was put in this position to begin with.I was told I could compete by people who have been doing this for 30 years,” she said. “I did everything right and it was all in front of them.

The Miss Delaware organization has removed every picture of Amanda Longacre on their website and issued the following statement on the story:

“Following the Miss Delaware Pageant, it was determined that Amanda Longacre exceeded the age requirement in order to be eligible to compete.”

Amanda Longacre who is working on her master’s degree in social work at the University of Pennsylvania had already taken one year off to perform her duties as Miss Delaware.
