A mother and daughter from Minford, Ohio are being mourned. It has been confirmed that Candy Newsome and her sixteen-year-old girl, Kristina Mykal Newsome, were found dead by a family member. Ohio officials believe they were murdered.
A family in Minford, Ohio is mourning the deaths of a mother and her daughter. In a brief press release from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, it was revealed that on Monday around 9 AM, the bodies of Candy Newsome and her daughter, Kristina Mykal Newsome, 16, were found.
The daughter and mother were discovered by an unnamed family member at a mobile home in the 4000 block of Blue Run Road in the Minford area. Sheriff Marty Donini believes that the murders were committed in the past 12 hours.
Donini added that they have no suspects and have no motives for the crimes at this time. The Ohioan law enforcer shared:
“We are questioning, backtracking to see who was at the house last (Sunday) night. We’re going to interview every one of them. We don’t have anybody that we want to name at this time.”
According to Donini, both the mother and her teenage daughter were shot to death, and the bodies had “obvious signs of trauma.” He told the media:
“They assumed that they had been murdered. A preliminary investigation indicates that each one of those victims was probably shot. We can’t verify that yet, but we are in the process of doing that now.”
Donini said that the teenager attempted to flee her killer while the mother’s body was found in her bed. Donini said:
“We went and got an actual search warrant and the recommendation of the (Scioto) County Prosecutor (Mark Kuhn). We just want to make sure all of our bases are covered. Therefore we left the residence, went and got the search warrant and we came back with the search warrant.”
Ohio authorities say that only two people lived in the mobile home, Mr. Newsome apparently left the family residence some time ago. The police ask anyone with information to call 740-354-7566.
A neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, said his son used to play with the teenager when they were younger. Kristina Mykal Newsome, who attended Minford High School, was a very vibrant young woman, who loved the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Knicks, and the Kentucky Wildcats Basketball. She was also a big music fan and supported One Direction, Liam Dineen, Emo is my life and Earl Dibbles Jr.
