Miley Cyrus celebrated her big return to SNL with an incredible performance and a series of hilarious sketches. Cyrus sang about her dead animals, mocked Ariana Grande, made a real fan out of John Mayer and announced new tour dates.
Miley Cyrus had her plates full as she served both as host and musical guest on the season 41 premiere of Saturday Night Live over the weekend.
Cyrus did not fail and provided viewers with major entertainment and quite a bit of emotion. The “Adore You” singer opened the show with a very funny monologue where she sang about all the scandals that marked the summer and we have already forgotten.
For example, do you recall that Ariana Grande was caught licking and spitting on doughnuts? Do you remember when Lenny Kravitz showed off his private parts, and that Meek Mill had a feud with Drake? What about the Josh Duggar sex scandal?
See, bet you forgot about all of these interesting people. Oh, yea, during her segment, she confessed her love of pot, but the world already knew that. She sang:
“I’d like to say goodbye to those who made the summer what it was. And while we’ll never think of these people ever, ever again, they certainly did summer their way. Although tonight I am on a seven-second delay — not a television delay — it’s just that when you smoke as much as I do, you’re always on a seven-second delay.”
Miley Cyrus took part in several hilarious skits including “50s Dance,” “Kat’s Deli” and “Millennials.” The Big Fish actress later took the stage wearing a very strange costume composed of long dreadlocks and a pair of panties. Bizarre wardrobe aside, Cyrus killed it.
Joined by The Flaming Lips, Cyrus performed two new songs – “Karen Don’t Be Sad” and “The Twinkle Song” – which are lifted from the Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz mixtape that was released for free during the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.
Cyrus’ voice was simply beautiful on “Karen Don’t Be Sad” and as for “Twinkle Song,” inspired by the death of her friend’s cat, the entertainer took a seat behind the piano and started crying as she sang the moving ballad.
The singer also announced that she will be going on a mini-tour starting next month. Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz tour dates are below:
November 19 – Chicago, IL @ Riviera Theatre
November 21 – Detroit, MI @ The Fillmore
November 27 – Washington, DC @ Echostage
November 28 – New York, NY @ Terminal 5
December 5 – Philadelphia, PA @ Electric Factory
December 6 – Boston, MA @ House of Blues
One person, who will probably see Cyrus on tour, is John Mayer who tweeted:
Okay. I’ll stop tweeting about it now. Comes down to this: This is a masterwork of whack genius. #whackgenius

This Miley album is amazing. You can’t try to make something like this. You just tap the vein and don’t question a single instinct.

“we never get to see ourselves sleeping peacefully next to the ones that we love.” I’m totally transfixed by this Miley Cyrus album.
