Actor Mike Smith was involved in an incident at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. The Trailer Park Boys star allegedly choked a female friend, according to witnesses.
Canadian actor and musician Mike Smith spent few hours in a California jail on Friday. Smith, 43, is accused of choking a woman at the Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles. The New Glasgow, Nova Scotia native and his female companion reportedly got into an argument over texting.
According to TMZ.com, he was exchanging messages with another person, and things escalated with his female friend from there. People, who were nearby, apparently heard the woman screaming and asking him to stop choking her, allegedly, of course. The celebrity news website shared:
Our sources say they heard the woman yell, “you’re choking me” and when they ran over … they saw Smith pinning the woman up against the bathroom wall. Smith bolted and cops were called.
Members of Smith’s PR team are not commenting on the story at the moment. However, he was booked with misdemeanor domestic battery, according to authorities.
Trailer Park Boys is a Canadian docucomedy, which airs on Netflix, and it launched in 2001 via Showcase. It focuses on the misadventures of a group of trailer park residents and former convicts. The 10th season premiered on March 28. This has some naysayers wondering if the arrest and the debut of the latest season are not related in some fashion, but there is no evidence to back that point of view.
On the other hand, Smith’s supporters believe that the whole situation has been blown out of proportion and the incident was never that serious. Either way, the story is all over social media, and some are hoping that if all the details are right, the incident will not hurt the future of the TV program. Smith portrays Bubbles on the show, and his character is a fan favorite.
