Michael Hunn, 50, the former husband of Stephanie Reece, a professional tennis player from Indiana, was found dead in his home along with the bodies of the athlete’s two children — daughter Shelby, 13, and son, Harrison, 15.
The gruesome scene was discovered after a police investigation was triggered by a worried report from Reece, who claimed that she had no contact with her children who were supposed to be at their Zionsville school that day.
Authorities in Boone County had to break the door to the premises to enter, upon which they discovered the two kids laying in their beds, and Hunn also dead in the room.
It is still not clear what caused Hunn to commit the atrocious act, and an active investigation into the crime is still underway.
The local community is understandably shocked, with many trying to figure out what could have prompted Hunn to act in such a way.
Many pointed out that the two kids were sweet and innocent and are highly unlikely to have provoked the murderer in any way. Moreover, they were sleeping.
Harrison, Reece’s son, was actually inspired to follow his mother’s road to success, as he was training hard to become a professional tennis player.
He was a high school sophomore. Many are currently combing through the past of Hunn trying to figure out if there is any indication that he was close to doing something of this kind, although it does not seem like there is any solid clue about his behavior at this point.
Speculations are running wild, as can be expected. Boone County Sheriff Mike Nielson said: “I spoke to the family and spoke to the mother who is devastated obviously, but she did not see this happening at all.”
Reece, now a coach for girls at Zionsville Community High School, divorced Hunn in November 2017 after 17 years of marriage.
