Megyn Kelly left the Fox News Channel in January after working there for over 12 years. She signed a contract with NBC News, and her new daily program is expected to begin airing in the fall at 10 AM.
Fans of the Today show know that this hour previously belonged to Tamron Hall and Al Roker. Hall left the network after finding out that she was being demoted to open the door for the new star recruit.
Hall spent ten years working at NBC and found them to be disrespectful when they offered her to become a co-host among many others on the first two hours of the popular morning show. So, she turned down the $2 million that came with her new contract.
Kathie Lee & Hoda, an hour hosted by Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, will move to 9 AM. After Hall had left, Roker stayed solo, but this will end later this year when Kelly starts her new career.
Roker will go back to being a simple co-host on the first two hours of the Today, the same offer that Hall turned down.
NBC is betting a lot on the talented and professional Kelly, who turned her numerous fights with then-candidate Donald Trump into ratings gold and a launching pad for the next stage in her business endeavors.
Some at the network even see her as the future face of the Peacock Network. This enormous success has a price.
Kelly has made enemies everywhere. Hall supporters say they will boycott her new show. Matt Lauer feels threatened because his contract is up in 2018, and he could get dumped for a fresher and less polarizing face.
Moreover, conservatives now see Kelly as a sellout and hypocrite, who could not wait to join forces with the elites behind the mainstream media. Case in point, they say she went to an Oscar party on Sunday without a bra.
Going out bra-less is so liberal, they say.
