Maria Kirilenko ends engagement to Alex Ovechkin, men all over the world rejoice. Tennis player, Maria Kirilenko has announced in a brief statement that she has broken off her two-year engagement to Russian NHL star, Alex Ovechkin. Kirilenko claimed there are numerous reason behind the split and went on to wish Ovechkin the best with his career. It appears that Maria Kirilenko might have been giving clues on the breakup via social networking sites.
Maria Kirilenko is single again. The 27-year-old professional tennis player has announced via the Russian Tennis Federation that she has decided to end her wedding engagement to NHL player Alex Ovechkin.
Kirilenko who made it to the quarter finals in the Wimbledon Championships and the Australian Open started dating the Washington Capitals star in 2011.
In December of 2012 the pair announced that they had gotten engaged and were planning a wedding for 2014.
In her short statement that was released on Monday, the beautiful model from Moscow said she had decided to terminate the engagement and added there were many personal reasons behind her decision but did not want to go into details.
She went on to share:
”I respect Sasha as a person and athlete and I sincerely wish him continued athletic success.“
There is a possibility that one week ago, Maria Kirilenko gave clues for the reasons of the split on her Instagram account.
She posted a picture of Beyonce trying to discreetly read Jay Z cell phone while attending a basket ball match.
On the photo she wrote: See even Beyonce does it.
Around the same time rumors of Jay Z cheating on Beyonce were spreading on the internet like wildfire.
So could it be that Alex Ovechkin may have been cheating on her?
Her Twitter and Instagram accounts also revealed that the duo went their separated ways several weeks ago.
It has been a while since Maria Kirilenko shared a picture of Alex Ovechkin on her accounts.
Instead she has been posting loads of selfies in the gym, at the theater, in the streets of London and Paris and enjoying nights out with her girlfriends.
