Manhattan Love Story canceled by ABC due to poor ratings. The romantic comedy starring Analeigh Tipton and Jake McDorman is the first series of the 2014 fall season to get cancelled. Many predict Marry Me and Selfie are next on the chopping board.
Manhattan Love Story canceled by ABC after only four episodes because of its low ratings. The alphabet network made the announcement on Friday.
The show was created by Jeff Lowell, executive produced by Peter Traugott, Robin Schwartz, Rachel Kaplan, and Jon Liebman.
Manhattan Love Story is the first network television cancellation of the 2014 fall schedule. It was a slow death for the comedy, because this year, networks have decided to wait a bit longer before axing shows.
Television executives now wait for more DVR viewing data prior to taking their decisions. Other reason, networks have been patient with shows this year is because they do not have any replacements.
The failed romantic comedy, which starred Analeigh Tipton, Jake McDorman and Nicolas Wright followed:
“The journey of a new couple composed of Dana Hopkins and Peter Cooper and featured inner monologues with the questions they are actually thinking about from the moment they begin a relationship.”
The last episode of Manhattan Love Story drew only 2.6 million viewers and a 0.7 rating among adults 18-49, compared to Selfie, which had 3.8 million viewers and a 1.1 rating, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The Tuesday night comedy was off to a very bad start, with the premiere scoring poor ratings, so its cancellation is not really surprising. The show also landed some very negative reviews.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the now-cancelled Manhattan Love Story held a rating of 29%. Most television critics claimed that the series had poorly written jokes and characters were not very lovable.
Now that Manhattan Love Story has been canceled, its time slot will be filled by episodes of Selfie.
Expect ABC to cancel Selfie soon because it failed to get an expanded season order.
If ABC is looking for shows, CBS cancelled Reckless. ABC, pick it up! CBS has its head up its butt. Reckless is a phenomenal show!!!! TAKE IT!!!!!!! But then put it on a different night. Tuesday night’s suck.
Her (Analeigh Tipton) acting was horrid and so over-acted. I cringed everytime she opened her mouth in the 15 minutes of the first episode I watched. She needs to tone it down and uhhh..idk. Just act normal!
How did she ever get a series?????
I always watch boxing and fight sports. but I do like the shows on the list. I think that the networks do not give shows a chance. They could down size and make webisodes of these cancelled shows.
my daughter and I are disappointed with the cancellation of The Manhattan Love Story. we enjoyed the show. hope you will bring it back.
