Reports indicate that Lindsay Lohan‘s career might be retaking a negative turn, as her reality show Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club has been denied the green light for a second season.
At the same time, the club where the show took place — the Mykonos — has reportedly also closed down, although it is not clear if this is related to the cancellation of the show itself.
However, it is very likely, given the fact that the show was centered around the lives of club personnel.
According to reports, the club might not be able to sustain itself after the show shuts down, and the decision has been made to close its doors entirely instead.
There was some hope that the show would get picked up for a second season.
However, it looks like most people behind the scenes were somewhat disappointed with the way the ratings have evolved in its last episodes.
An insider revealed: “There was a renewal idea that producers hoped would perk it up for a second season. It would be turned into a show about Lindsay and [her mother] Dina and [sister] Ali, [but] that wasn’t going to happen.”
The source added: “They wanted “breakdowns.” ‘That’s not where [Lohan] is at with her life anymore. Their personal business ‘doesn’t need to be aired on television; ‘it’s already in the papers anyway.”
Initially, it was supposed to be about the staff at the Mykonos, but later on, it started to focus more and more on Lindsay’s own life.
Moreover, this was the kind of spin that the producers wanted to give the show for its second season, but that did not pan out.
Fans have been speculating that the show might get picked up by another network, but there do not seem to be any indications of that so far.
MTV seem adamant in their decision to cancel the production, despite the strong following that it has managed to attain during its short run.
Reactions have been mixed after it was revealed that the series got canceled.
One commenter stated: “I knew it in March. They had emptied the club bare and taken the sign down. They did not winterize the building. Shame, I enjoyed the show.”
A second viewer explained: “Her rep just confirmed she’s not doing another season and the club is changing locations.”
A third person added: “Horrible show, horrible cast. I’m glad it’s over forever!!!”
Lindsay has not yet revealed where she plans to take things next.
