Neeson explained he sometimes still believes that she will walk through the door. The Irish actor also confessed that he had a pact with Richardson, to pull the plug if either of them were ever in a vegetative state.
Liam Neeson opened up about his wife’s death to Loaded magazine.
In the very emotional interview, the Oscar nominated star, confessed that it has been very hard since his wife, Natasha Richardson died in March of 2009.
Neeson said her passing was never fully accepted by him and he sometimes imagines that she will walk through the front door.
The Hold the Dream actor who lost his spouse during a skiing accident in Quebec, Canada said:
“Her death was never real. It still kind of isn’t. There’s periods now when I hear the door opening, especially the first couple of years … anytime I hear that door opening, I still think I’m going to hear her.”
In 2009 Natasha Richardson was taking skiing lessons sans helmet at the Mont Tremblant Resort when she fell and hit her head.
When first aid responders arrived to check The Charge of the Light Brigade actress, they were turned away because she was doing well.
But few hours later she complained of a headache and visited a local hospital.
About 7 hours after the fall she was in a critical condition and was rushed to the Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur, Montreal, where doctors discovered that she had suffered a traumatic brain injury.
The Duet for One actor revealed to the publication, that he had an agreement with Natasha: no life support if either of them were ever in a vegetative state.
The 62-year-old father of two (sons Micheál, 18, and Daniel, 17, ) said he looked at all the machines and tubes and told his wife that he loved her and added:
“Sweetie, you’re not coming back from this.”
Neeson shared that since the love of his live left, he feels that earth isn’t stable anymore and never will be.
He has become a workaholic in order to suppress the pain.
Later this year he will appear in A Walk Among the Tombstones, a crime drama that focuses on a former cop who is forced to hire a drug dealer to help him find his kidnapped wife.
And 2015, he will be in Taken 3 where Bryan Mills has been framed for a murder. He will take part in the action drama, about a hit man who, must protect his family called Run All Night. A cameo in the aanticipated Entourage movie is also scheduled.
