Laura Trott is engaged to Jason Kenny. The 22-year-old team pursuit star announced the news on Christmas Day via Twitter.
Two gold medalists are engaged to be married. The “Laura Trott engaged” headline invaded the web on Christmas Day, after an official announcement was made via Twitter. Laura Trott started dating Jason Kenny, 26, in 2012, a year that also saw their careers reach new heights.
At the London 2012 Olympic Games, Trott won gold medals in the team pursuit and omnium events, according to BBC Sport. Kenny met the same kind of success in team sprint and individual sprint.
After the Olympic Games, the two athletes kept shinning. Kenny won national titles and did well at the Commonwealth Games by winning a silver medal in the team sprint. Trott was brilliant at the 2014 British National Track Championships, also delivered at the Commonwealth Games and the Track Cycling World Cup.
After winning the gold for Great Britain at the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in women’s omnium earlier this month, Trott said:
“I’m so happy. The points race has never been my strongest event. I’ve been doing a lot of work. My tactics were actually quite simple, all I had to do was follow Jolien. When I won the second from last sprint I knew it was over.”
Despite all these achievements, getting engaged is something truly special. Trott seemed very excited when she took to Twitter to reveal the big engagement news on Thursday. Emma Trott‘s youngest sister wrote:

The three times Olympic Champion is less active on social media, which would explain why he has not put out his own statement.
Trott and Kenny, who are based in Manchester, are well liked in the United Kingdom. Supporters of cycling were quick to take to the internet to wish the happy couple well. These fans are also hoping that they will have children, who can follow their successful paths, and continue their nation’s domination in this field.
