Lark Voorhies, a self-proclaimed Jehovah’s Witness, has ended her second marriage just months after saying “I do.” Voorhies, of Saved by the Bell fame, filed for divorce six months after marrying Jimmy Green, a music producer and criminal she met on Facebook.
After six months of marriage, Days of Our Lives actress Lark Voorhies has filed for divorce from her now estranged husband, Jimmy Green. The author surprised her fans and even her own mother, Tricia, in April by announcing that she had gotten married to Green just months after meeting him.
Miss Voorhies apparently met Green on Facebook, dated for about a year and rushed to Las Vegas for a private ceremony, which was not attended by her mother. It was later revealed that Green and his mother-in-law got into a heated argument, which prompted her to file a restraining order against him.
Green was accused of threatening to kill a store owner in Arizona, and he allegedly had links to gangs. Tricia, who lives with Voorhies and also serves as her manager, issued a brief statement explaining that the former lovers have plans to remain friends despite citing irreconcilable differences in the divorce documents. She told PEOPLE:
“They can remain friends, but it’s best they sever their marriage ties.Lark is ready to move forward with her life and wishes him well with his life.”
In a short interview with TMZ, Mr. Green, a music producer, who had few run-ins with the law, confessed that he knew the romance was doomed from the start but decided to play along to make Voorhies happy. It is highly unlikely that the duo will remain friends because Voorhies has filed a motion asking a judge to bar any request for spousal support from Green.
After the wedding, Voorhies did a bizarre interview with Entertainment Tonight where she slammed her mother for telling the world that she is bipolar and explained that her new husband was not trying to steal her money. She said at the time:
“He’s not [taking advantage of me]. We’re selectively together for all the right reasons… I always mentally health.”
Green also stated that his love for the actress was the real deal. He shared:
“We’re the same as any other couple out there that’s in love and trying to accomplish business together. It’s not a scam or a way to get money.”
