The Kesha Dr. Luke court battle started on Tuesday with dueling lawsuits and is expected to last a while. Kesha claims she was sexually, physically and verbally abused by Dr. Luke during their 10-year collaboration.
A Kesha Dr. Luke contractual dispute, which began earlier year is moving to a whole new level this week. “Tik Tok” singer, Kesha Rose Sebert is suing the producer behind some of her biggest hits, Dr. Luke whose real name is Lukasz “Luke” Gottwald.
Kesha, 27, was signed to Dr. Luke’s Kemosabe Entertainment record label when she was only 18. The California native is asking a judge to end her contract with the “I Kissed a Girl” producer.
Kesha alleges in her lawsuit that she was abused sexually, physically and verbally by the 41-year-old record producer. The artist who grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, says she was given drugs before getting raped at an unknown hotel. TMZ reports:
In one instance, Kesha claims he forced her to snort something before getting on a plane … and during the trip he forced himself on her while she was drugged. On another occasion, Kesha claims after forcing her to drink with him, Dr. Luke gave her what he called “sober pills.” Kesha claims she woke up the following afternoon, naked in Dr. Luke’s bed, sore, sick … and with no memory of how she got there.
The pop singer also blames her estranged producer for the eating disorder that pushed her to go to rehab in January. Kesha stated in the suit that after the rehab stint, doctors have told her to put an end to the collaboration.
Dr. Luke is hitting back at those claims with his own defamation lawsuit, he says this is an extortion case and Kesha is lying. The producer’s lawyer, Christine Lepera said:
“Undoubtedly, Kesha’s lawsuit is nothing more than a continuation of her bad and offensive acts. We are confident that Dr. Luke will prevail in all matters, and that our client will be awarded substantial damages for this malicious conduct.”
It is looking increasingly clear that the Kesha Dr. Luke relationship may not recover from these lawsuits.
