Kathie Lee Gifford is speaking out about Bruce Jenner and his shocking revelation during Friday’s interview with Diane Sawyer on ABC. The French-born American host of NBC’s Today show has been friends with the Jenners for a very long time.
Kathie Lee Gifford was “shocked” by Bruce Jenner‘s coming out as a transgender woman. The co-host of Today show never saw it coming, although she has known the Jenner family for years. Gifford is the godmother of Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
Kathie Lee Gifford, who is very close to Bruce’s ex-wife, Kris Jenner, is putting a hole in the former’s Olympian’s description of his journey. Bruce Jenner claims that Kris knew that a big part of him felt like a woman. Gifford is singing a different tune, the 61-year-old TV legend says the gender transition news came as a big surprise to her friend. Kathie Lee Gifford shared:
“The other ladies, both fine women, had a long time to get used to this. This was new to Kris. She is trying to be a good friend to him – or her -now. Trying to still be a great parent, and it’s complicated in ways that we cannot even comprehend.”
“I never saw this coming, I’ve got to tell you. It would have shocked me as much if Frank had told me [the same thing.] How do you deal with that [the news]? The way you do, ultimately, is when you put love first, and try to put yourself in someone else’s high heels I suppose. We all want to love him through this and we all know there are children who are going to have to learn to deal with this. The story isn’t over obviously. The transition goes on.”
Kathie Lee Gifford’s account is slightly at odds with what Bruce told Diane Sawyer. On Friday, the father of ten stated that his former wife of 22 years knew everything. He explained:
“She didn’t say much. It was tough on her.Kris is a good woman. I’ve got no complaints with her. She’s a good person.”
According to the Inquisitr, after the Sawyer interview aired, Kathie Lee Gifford took to Twitter and told Bruce:
“God loves you, and so do we.”
Publicly, the Kardashian-Jenner clans are backing Bruce’s decision, but privately, things might be a little bit more complicated. Here is Kris Jenner’s official response to her ex-husband coming out as a transgender woman. It is a polite endorsement.
Not only was I able to call him my husband for 25 years and father of my children, I am now able to call him my hero.

Bruce’s move has put the family’s business in a very difficult position. He is taking a lot of air in the media, and at the same time the rest of the clan can not appear to be too dismissive of his journey. In our brave new world saying something negative about someone else’s sexual and gender awakening can be suicidal professionally. The slightest comment in the wrong direction will be deemed an expression of bigotry. One must follow the new rules closely or risk getting thrown out of the game. It is not high school, but it is pretty darn close.
What are your thoughts on Kathie Lee Gifford’s claims?
Yes, Bigotry is social Suicide, and for good reason. I don’t even like Kathy lee’s tone about Bruce Jenner, or her “God loves you”, condescending tweets–I wont be watching HER on any social media anymore…including this one.
We will bow down our knees only to the Lord our God…Jesus the Messiah, the King of all kings, the Lord of all lords, the Judge of all judges, the light of the world, the glory of Israel, the foundation stone upon which this nation came into existence, the only answer, the only chance, and the only hope that America has, that it might once again shine again with the light of the presence of the living God, and not go to hell, so help us God
We Will NOT bow down our knees to political correctness or moral “apostosy” which is as shifting as sands in the wind
