Another day, another celebratory Kate Gosselin divorce comment makes headlines on the Internet. After announcing that she no longer wanted to talk about her former husband, Jon Gosselin, Kate turned around and did just that by revealing that divorce life is simply amazing.
In a new episode of Kate Plus 8, Kate Gosselin is opening up about her divorce from Jon Gosselin. The pair, who have eight children together (sextuplets and twins), were married in 1999 and had a very public divorce in 2009.
The author of I Just Want You to Know: Letters to My Kids on Love, Faith, and Family and her former DJ husband, like so many, fell perfectly into the bracket of the average length of a marriage that ends in a divorce, which is more or less eight years. According to experts:
“It’s a well know fact that about 50 percent of marriages in the United States end in divorce. The number is similarly high in many other developed nations.41 percent of first marriages end in divorce. 60 percent of second marriages end in divorce. 73 percent of third marriages end in divorce. In America, there is one divorce approximately every 36 seconds. That’s nearly 2,400 divorces per day, 16,800 divorces per week and 876,000 divorces a year.”
Kate Gosselin, who is not ready for a second marriage with new boyfriend, Jeff Prescott, recently flew to Mexico with all of her eight children – Cara Nicole, Madelyn Kate, Alexis Faith, Hannah Joy, Aaden Jonathan, Collin Thomas, Leah Hope and Joel Kevin – to celebrate her big 40th birthday.
The Mexican bash was featured in an installment of Kate Gosselin’s new TLC reality series, Kate Plus 8. In the episode, Kate sat down for dinner with her best friend and she shared her goals for this year. Kate wants people to stop asking her if she has a man in her life and to stop criticizing her parenting skills. She shared:
“Don’t talk to me about ex situations. I don’t define myself with that. This has been the greatest five years of my life. My ideas haven’t changed, my parenting hasn’t changed. I’m just doing it alone now.”
The reality star concluded by saying:
“I want my kids to grow up and be each other’s best friends.”
