Kanye’s hilarious subtitles, courtesy of the BBC have gone viral, and the Internet cannot get enough of them.
BBC alters Kanye West‘s controversial lyrics to soften them for the general public, and hilarity ensues. The hilarious subtitles used during the broadcast of West’s Glastonbury Festival set on Saturday have overshadowed the performance itself.
UK’s public-service broadcaster was trying to avoid the mistake made by ITV in February when it decided to censor the “Power” artist as he was performing at the 2015 Brit Awards.
However, covering all the profanity in some of West’s music proved to be a daunting task for BBC’s subtitles team. The fail reached a peak when the subtitles department waved the white flag with a simple but telling: “He raps.”
This moment was not alone. “Motherf**ker” was replaced by “motherducker” and “nig*er” became “ligger.”
Social media had a lot of fun at the expense of BBC and the rapper, who is not exactly the most popular person on the planet. The Glastonbury show was marred by other unpleasant moments for the soon-to-be father of two. A “fan” of the “FourFiveSeconds” singer brought a huge flag featuring an image of his wife, Kim Kardashian, from her 2003’s sex tape with ex-boyfriend, R&B artist Brandy‘s little brother, Ray J.
A prankster named Lee Nelson also invaded West’s stage at the popular festival. The Web was quick to say that West got “Kanye’d.”
