Jose Angel Barajas-Mireles, a 34-year-old man from California, has been arrested for torturing and sexually assaulting an unnamed woman for more than 2 months. Mr Jose Angel Barajas-Mireles allegedly convinced two friends – Guillermo Crestino Avina and Jaime Gomez Cisneros – to constantly rape and beat the victim, whom they held in a home located in Santa Rosa as a sex slave.
Jose Angel Barajas-Mireles, a 34-year-old individual from Santa Rosa, California, is currently behind bars for the kidnapping of an unidentified 22-year-old female. According to a brief statement issued by Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Cecile Focha, on February 18th, a woman ran in the police station where she shared a horrific tale.
The unnamed female revealed that around the Christmas holiday, she was kidnapped by Jose Angel Barajas-Mireles and his friends – 34-year-old Guillermo Crestino Avina and 52-year-old Jaime Gomez Cisneros.
The victim made it clear that Jose Angel Barajas-Mireles was the mastermind behind the evil plan, which included having her locked up in a house located on the 3000 block of Stony Point Road near Santa Rosa, which is just 55 miles north of San Francisco, California.
For more than 2 months, the trio took turns guarding her whenever one was out. The men repeatedly beat her, tortured her and raped her. On February 18, one of the alleged criminals accidentally left the door of the home opened and she was able to flee and get help.
The following day, California authorities and a SWAT team stormed the home where they arrested Jose Angel Barajas-Mireles and his accomplices, Guillermo Crestino Avina and Jaime Gomez Cisneros. Jose Angel Barajas-Mireles was jailed on suspicion of aggravated sodomy, aggravated oral copulation and aggravated rape. While Barajas-Mireles is not facing a kidnapping charge, he is being accused of being the ring leader.
Cecile Focha explained that the woman was scared as she spoke of her unimaginable ordeal. The sheriff’s spokeswoman denied the rumors that the alleged victim was kidnapped at gunpoint and added:
“It was brutal, absolutely brutal. The woman was terrorized.”
Cisneros and Avina have been booked on suspicion of false imprisonment and being an accessory to Barajas-Mireles for guarding the victim and preventing her from leaving. Avina’s girlfriend, whose first name is Dee, has spoken to the police saying that the victim is lying.
According to Dee, the woman was in a consensual relationship with Jose Angel Barajas-Mireles for numerous months and they moved in together during the Christmas holiday. Dee said:
“They did have a sexual relationship, but it wasn’t rape.”
They shared a Valentine’s Day dinner together and even exchanged gifts, but when she tried to have sex with him after the meal, he refused and she got angry. Out of revenge, she went to the cops and cooked up the rape and sex slave story. Dee stated:
“She got mad because she wanted to be with him and he didn’t want that. I never saw her mistreated.”
Cecile Focha, who does not believe Dee’s statement, explained:
“These people were not her friends. They were not her relatives.Nothing the victim said leads us to believe she was in a consensual relationship with any of these men.”
Jose Angel Barajas-Mireles is currently being held at the Sonoma County Jail on $6 million bail, while Avina and Cisneros are being held on $11,000 and $10,000, bails, respectively. The trio is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
