After Jimmy Fallon had ripped his finger off, he took to Instagram to share a gruesome picture with his fans. Fallon revealed that after taping an episode of the Tonight Show he slipped, fell and injured his finger on a table, the incident prompted his team to take him to a nearby hospital.
Jimmy Fallon ripped his finger off because of his wedding ring. While the TV host had a misadventure, there are many stories out there about how a wedding ring saved a person’s life.
In 2007, Donnie Register, who owns an antique shop in Mississippi, made headlines after his ring deflated a bullet that was intended for him. According to the police, two men walked into Register’s store with plans to rob him. They shot at the man when he would not give up the money.
One of the men pulled a gun and demanded money. A shot was fired as Register threw up his left hand, and his wedding ring deflected the bullet.
However, poor Jimmy Fallon, he had another tale to tell. On Friday morning, prior to the taping of another episode of the Tonight Show, Fallon slipped and as he was trying to prevent the fall, his wedding band got caught on a table and he injured his finger.
The incident took place in Fallon’s apartment in New York after having dinner and drinks at Scalinatella with Ted 2 star Mark Wahlberg and Glee actor Chris Colfer.
Via Instagram, Mr. Fallon explained what happened using a bit of humor:
“Tripped and caught my fall (good thing)! Ring caught on side of table almost ripped my finger off (bad thing).”
He also thanked his fans for their support and added that he is well and blessed. He tweeted:
“All looking great!! Thank you to these great doctors and nurses and Jello.
I’m doing well and thanks for good wishes everyone.”
A close source to the show told TheWrap that Fallon was taken to a nearby hospital for minor surgery on the ripped finger.
In a brief statement issued by NBC, it was revealed that they would be airing a repeat episode of the Tonight Show as the comedian recovers.
Actors – Benicio Del Toro and Taylor Kitsch – and comedians – Penn & Teller – were scheduled to appear on the axed episode.
