Jessica Biel added Bleeding Heart movie to her long list of accomplishments at the age of 33. In a statement issued by Gravitas Ventures, it was revealed that they have purchased the rights to Bleeding Heart, a film directed and written by Diane Bell, starring Biel and Zosia Mamet.
The rights of Jessica Biel‘s latest film, Bleeding Heart, have been acquired by Gravitas Ventures and will be released in December. Bleeding Heart, (which has nothing to do with the novel by the same title written by Liza Gyllenhaal), is a drama film that was written and directed by Diane Bell and stars Biel along with Zosia Mamet, Joe Anderson and Edi Gathegi.
The project was produced by Jonathan Schwartz, Andrea Sperling, and Greg Ammon. The flick focuses on two sisters played by Biel and Mamet, who have been recently reunited. Here is a synopsis of the movie:
May, a yoga-instructor (Biel) tries to protect her prostitute sister Shiva, (Mamet) from her deadbeat boyfriend (Anderson).
Thrilled by the deal, producer Jonathan Schwartz said in a brief statement:
“We’re looking forward to growing our relationship with the team at Gravitas.”
Bleeding Heart, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, was reviewed by The Hollywood Reporter, the publication claimed it was not great. The review shared:
The clear personality differences between the sisters produce some provocative moments, such as when Shiva introduces May to the pleasures of holding a loaded gun. And in accordance with Chekhov’s oft-quoted principle, the film’s climactic sequence does indeed feature it being used as a result of Cody’s increasingly threatening behavior. But for all the screenplay’s careful preparations, the moment feels cheap and unearned…The filmmaker, whose bio informs us that she earned a Master’s degree in Mental Philosophy from Edinburgh University and once ran a yoga studio herself, is clearly aiming at exploring philosophical issues in her sophomore feature. But Bleeding Heart unfortunately falls well short of its goals.
The movie will be released on demand November 3 followed by a theatrical release worldwide on December 11. Below is a brief interview of Biel’s husband, Justin Timberlake, on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon where he showed off pictures of his adorable five-month-old son, Silas, being cuddled by his mother, Jessica Biel.
